i.              History of the Institution

 

Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya (called as scsvmv); popularly called as Kanchi University was established in commemoration of the centenary year celebrations of His Holiness, Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Mahaswamigal in the year 1993.

Their Holiness Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal and Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal took the responsibility of fulfilling the desire of Pujyasri Paramacharya to bring the pristine glory of Kanchipuram as the seat of learning.

A step towards this, a higher seat of learning Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Maha Vidyalaya was established as Deemed University under the section 3 of U.G.C Act, 1956 under aegis of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham Charitable Trust. It is located in a sprawling campus at Enathur at a distance of about four kilometers from Kanchipuram

The main aim of this university is to provide quality education coupled with value-based orientation with comparably very low fee structure accessible to poor and middle class people of the Society. It offers various courses in Engineering, Ayurvedic Medicine, Arts and Science, Management, Sanskrit and other such relevant areas.

           Teachers are the backbone of any country. A Strong and sound educational system shapes the growth and development of any nation. The pivotal point in the whole educational system is the teacher who translates the aims and objectives of the society into action. Keeping this fact into consideration the SCSVMV Management decided to open School of Education by offering B.Ed., course initially keeping the expansion of this school as center of excellence in education in future. The main aim of this B.Ed., program is to produce quality and competent secondary school teachers to serve in various secondary schools of the nation with commitment and dedication. Both content and methodology are given due weightage in this program.  Furthermore, in strengthening research competencies and evolve quality research in the field of teacher education, M.Phil., and Ph.D. programmes are offered both in full-time and part-time mode in the School of Education.
