The Inaugural function of the workshop was presided by the honourable Vice Chancellor Prof.Dr. C.V.Vaidyanathan. The welcome address was given by the Dean (E&T) Prof.K.C.Srinivas. The chief guest for the function was Prof.Dr.H.G.Sreenath, Technical Director of Chennai civil tech research foundation, Chennai. The guest of honour was Dr.G.Apparao, Associate Professor, Department of civil engineering IITM, Chennai. Dr.Sreenath and Dr.G.Apparao gave the lectures on engineering materials. In the afternoon session of the workshop Dr.K.Balasubramaniam, Managing Director, Hi tech concrete solutions, Chennai, gave the lecture on advances in N.D.T. In the second session of afternoon Mr.J.Anbu, Vice president of DLF Housing Pvt. Ltd. gave the lecture on construction of diaphragm walls and the construction techniques. Mrs. K.Ambiga gave the vote of thanks. On the second day of the workshop Mr.N.Seshadri Sekhar, H.O.D, welcomed the gathering. The first speaker Prof.Dr.S.Sivamoorthy Reddy gave the lecture on acid silica reactions on the coarse aggregate. He has explained the chemical reactions of the compositions in the concrete. In the second session Mr.Staladipti saha, Head, EDRC L&T, Chennai, gave the lecture on fastening and bonding of reinforcement techniques in the concrete. In the third session Prof.N.P.Rajamane, H.O.D center for advanced concrete research, S.R.M University, Chennai, explained the behavior of low carbon geopolymers as sustainable materials for structures. After the lunch break the evaluation of project models exhibited by the participants. The assessment was done by Prof.N.P.Rajamane and Mr.P.G.Suresh Kumar, Chief personal officer IDPL, L&T, Chennai. The best three projects were given the cash prizes of Rs.5000/- Rs.3000/- and Rs.2000/-. In the valedictory function Prof.K.C.Srinivas presided the function and Mr.P.G.Suresh Kumar was the chief guest. In the address of the chief guest, Mr.P.G.Suresh Kumar explained the aligning the H.R requirements to the corporate sector. He has explained how an employee of the corporate sector should work efficiently. Mr.N.Seshadri Sekhar reviwed the lectures of the workshop. Mrs.R.Sumathi, Assistant professor gave the vote of thanks. The workshop was concluded with the national anthem.
