Saint Thyagaraja, a great saint of this millennium , is admired almost all musicians of the Carnatic field. His Aradhana is annually conducted at Thiruvaiyaru, his birth place. In that regard, the Department of Sanskrit & Indian Culture and Fine Arts Association of SCSVMV University has jointly organized a Musical tribute called NADA SAMARPANA on 19-01-2017 at Sri Jayendra Sarawathi Golden Jubilee Hall, SCSVMV University International Library.
Dr.R.S.Nanadakumar, Faculty of Brahmavidya, Mysore and his group performed for the occasion. Dr.Nandakumar is the fourth generation in the family of Saint Tyagaraja. The program started at around 09:40 A.M.
The program started with the pooja of Saint Tyagaraja and Adi Sankaracarya at the Sankara Statue in the University followed by Unchavritti from there, to Sri Jayendra Sarawathi Golden Jubilee Hall. The Musical Concert started with the lighting of Mangaladeepa by Prof.Dr.G.Srinivasu, Registrar, SCSMV University and Dr.R.S.Nandakumar.
Then Dr.R.S.Nandakumar performed the Pancaranta Kirtanas of Saint Tyagaraja, followed by some Keertanas on Devi Kamakshi and Adi Sankaracharya. accompanied by other vocalists and instrumentalists on Mridangam, Veena, Violin, Ganjira and Tambura.
Dr.R.S.Nandakumar was also accompanied by Sri.G.U.Sajeev, an alumni of SCSVMV University and some Staff Members and Students of the University as vocalists.
Staff Members and Students of the University were among the other audience. The concert concluded with special offerings to Saint Tyagaraja.
Prof.Dr.V.S.Vishnu Potty, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of our University then felicitated Dr.R.S.Nandakumar and other performers. He emphasized the value of music and praised the great initiation.
