Department of Physics
Our department organized Fresher’s Party on 22ndJuly, 2015, from 2.30pm to 4.30 pm at Physics Laboratory to welcome the I year B.Sc students of our department. All faculty members attended the welcome meeting.
The function started with prayer by our students. Prof. Dr. K. Venkatramanan, Head, Department of Physics welcomed the gathering. He explained the importance and merits of studying Physics and also congratulated the students for optingPhysics for their higher education. Also, the workplan (Conferences & Workshops) planned for the academic year 2015-16 under the Physics Association banner SBSP was briefed. The research facilities available in the department are also briefed. HOD introduced the staff members of the department to the students. Prof. Dr. A. Jayalakshmi, Dean, Faculty of Science Presided over the function. She felicitated the gathering through her inspiring talks and motivated the students towards higher education and research oriented activities. Newly joined students of our department gave self-introduction. Then, II Year B.Sc and II year M.Sc students introduced themselves. Inorder to bring out the innate talent of the students, various interesting games and cultural programmes were conducted by II M.Sc students. Prizes were distributed to the winners.
