3rd International Conference on Functional Materials (ICFM 2018)
The department of Physics organized an International Conference on Functional Materials (ICFM 2018) in association with Department of Applied Physics, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur on 25th and 26th June 2018.
June 25th 2018 – first day of the conference
The conference began with Maitreem Bhajata, (a song composed by Paramachraya of Kanchi for world Peace sung by M.S.Subbulakshmi) followed by lighting of kuthuvillakku by the dignitaries.
Prof. Dr. K.Venkatramanan, Head, Department of Physics welcomed the gathering. Dr.R.Raja, Organising Secretary (ICFM 2018) explained the objectives of the conference. Prof.Dr.S.Jayaramareddy, Honourable Chancellor, SCSVMV delivered the Presidential address and inaugurated the conference. He honoured the Chief guests Prof.AnanthaIyengarGopalan, Visiting Professor, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea and Prof. P.V.Ramachandran, Professor-Organic Chemistry, Purdue University, USA. Prof.Dr.V.S.VishnuPotty, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SCSVMV honoured Prof.Dr.M.Sivanandham, Secretary, SVCE, Prof.S.Ganesh Vaidyanathan, Principal, SVCE and Prof. Dr.A.Bhaskaran, Prof & Head, Dept. of Applied Physics, SVCE. Then, Vice-Chancellor addressed the gathering and released the Book of abstracts of ICFM which was received by the guest of Honour Prof.Dr.M.Sivanandham, Secretary, SVCE. Prof.Dr.G.Srinivasu, Registrar of our University exchanged MoU documents with Prof. AnanthaIyengarGopalan of Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea. Two MoUs were signed. One between Department of Physics of our University and Research Institute of Advanced Energy Technology, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea and other one with Faculty of Engineering & Technology of our University with Daegyeong Regional Infrastructure
Technology Development Center, KNU, Daegu, South Korea. Prof.Dr.M.Sivanandham, Secretary, SVCE and the Prof. P.V.Ramachandran addressed the gathering. Then Prof.Dr.S.Balaji, Dean (Science) and Prof. Dr.A.Bhaskaran, Prof & Head, Dept. of Applied Physics, SVCE, felicitated the gathering. The inaugural address was concluded and the technical session started after the Group Photo session
The chairperson for the technical session - I was Prof. C.V.Venkatakrishnan of our department and he conducted the proceedings.
The first keynote address was delivered by Prof.A.Gopalan, Professor Kyungpook National University on the topic “Development of Novel Functional Gels for Environmental Applications”. The second keynote address was delivered by Prof.M.Sivanandham, Professor, Dept. of Biotechnology, SVCE on the topic “Biomaterials in Tissue Engineering”.
The chairpersons for the technical session-II were Prof.K.Sivakumar, Head, Department of Chemistry of our University, and Dr.T. Gnanasekaran, Raja Ramanna Fellow, IGCAR(Retd.) Director- SJCAR of our University and they conducted the proceedings. The third keynote address was delivered by Prof. P.V.Ramachandran, Professor, Purdue University, USA on the topic “Stereodefined synthesis of fluorinated alkenes”.
The first invited talk was delivered by Dr.O.Senthilkumar, (FIRST Research Center of Nanobiodevice, Nagola University, Japan) Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam on the topic “Comparing the use of silicon and plastic chips in incubation type planar patch clamp”. The second invited talk was delivered by Dr.S.Karthikeyan [Ph.D from University of Twente, Netherlands], Madras Christian College, Chennai on the topic “Electrochemical Synthesis of various Metal Oxides and Platinum for Hydrogen fuel cells”. The Oral and Poster presentation began after the technical session-II. The oral session were conducted with 10 research paper presentations and 25 poster presenters. Awards were given for Best Oral and Poster presentations.
June 26th 2018 – Second day of the conference
The second day of the conference began with invited talk delivered by Dr.K.Vijayarangamuthu, Centre for Nanoscience and Technology, Pondicherry University on the topic “Graphene and related materials: Synthesis and Applications”. The second invited talk was delivered by Dr.K.S.Kiran, School of Engineering and Technology, Jain university, Bangalore on the topic “Crystal and Molecular docking studies of biscyclohexyldiols with focal adhesion kinase inhibitors”. The chairpersons for the above technical session –IV were Dr.A.Bhaskaran, Head, Dept. of Applied Physics, SVCE, and Prof. C.V.Venkatakrishnan, Department of Physics and they conducted the proceedings.
Around 50 research papers were presented in oral and poster session. Awards were given for Best Oral presentations. Concluding remarks were given by Dr.R.Raja, Organizing Secretary-ICFM 2018 and the conference ended with nation anthem.
