The Department of Physics organized a special guest lecture on “Fundamentals of Physics”on 20.07.2016 for B.Sc students inorder to motivate them. Dr.K.Venkatramanan, Professor and Head, Dept. of Physics welcomed the gathering. Prof.Dr.S.Gunasekaran, Dean (R & D), St. Peter's University, Chennai and Prof. Dr.S. Jerome Das, Professor of Physics, Loyola College, Chennai acted as resources persons for this programme.
Prof. Dr. S. Gunasekaran gave lecture on the importance of taking Physics as their career for higher studies. He motivated the students with the inventions made by the scientists and cited the early life story of Newton and Edison where they faced many difficulties but led them to make many inventions in their later life. He insisted the students on two factors like Time Management and Brain Management. He made the students to realize that they are studying an emerging science course which is having wider applications in various fields.
Prof. Dr.S. Jerome Das explained the fundamentals of Electronics [Example Reversible and Irreversible process, Electric flux and Resistance in Series and Parallel] by the physical demonstration using the students. He motivated the students to work towards their goals following the track of scientists.
Dr.K.Rajalakshmi, Asst.Professor& Coordinator, thanked the speakers, students and all staff members of the department who assisted in making all arrangements as members of the organizing committee for this function.
