The Centre for Distance and Online Education

Following the UGC 2020 regulations for Online Learning (OL) and Online and Distance Learning (ODL), this centre is designed to cater to those who cannot access traditional higher education and to those who pursue learning as a lifelong endeavor. Presently, the centre offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Science, Humanities, and Management.

The centre employs a comprehensive four-quadrant approach for electronically delivered courses, as recommended by UGC. Students can access degree programs through a virtual learning environment enriched with integrated support services. This platform ensures consistent, high-quality content delivery via recorded videos, learning materials, and discussion forums. Students engage with experienced faculty and participate in activities aimed at achieving program learning outcomes, all while upholding academic integrity.

ODL, or Open and Distance Learning, refers to educational programs that allow students to study  remotely, often online, without needing to attend a traditional campus.
These programs offer flexibility for students with other commitments or geographical limitations.

Yes, degrees obtained through ODL are generally recognized as equivalent to those earned through  traditional, on-campus learning.

Eligibility criteria for ODL programs are generally similar to those for conventional degree courses. 

Typically, a 10+2 qualification is required for undergraduate programs, and a bachelor’s degree is  needed for postgraduate programs. 

From the 2024-25 academic year, the UGC introduced a new enrollment procedure. Students need  to register on the DEB portal using their Academic Bank of Credits ID (ABC-ID) to obtain a DEB ID. 

The DEB ID is mandatory for enrollment in ODL/online programs and ensures students are enrolling in  recognized institutions
