CURBING THE MENACE OF RAGGING IN SCSVMV

SCSVMV strictly adheres to the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and the UGC Regulations.
RAGGING IS TOTALLY PROHIBITED AND ANYONE FOUND GUILTY OF RAGGING IS LIABLE TO BE PUNISHED.
SCSVMV Anti-Ragging and Squad Committees are involved in designing strategies and action plan for curbing the menace of ragging in the university by adopting an array of activities.

Ragging Menace
What is Ragging?
Any Unacceptable Behaviour in,
- Mental, physical, or sexual abuse.
- Verbal harassment or offensive remarks.
- Indecent behavior or public humiliation.
- Financial exploitation or extortion.
- Use of force, criminal intimidation, or undermining human
Punishment Provisions
Any student or group of students found guilty of ragging on campus or off campus shall be liable to one or more of the following punishments:
- Debarring from appearing in any sessional test/ university examination or withholding results.
- Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
- Withdrawing scholarships and other benefits.
- Suspension from the University for a period of one month.
- Cancellation of admission.
- Suspension/expulsion from the hostel
- Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution.
- Fine up to twenty five thousand rupees.
- Imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees or with both.
Collective punishment – When the students committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community pressure on potential raggers.
Zero Tolerance Policy
- Any unacceptable behavior, major or minor, will be dealt with severely.
- The university ensures no student or individual engaging in such acts goes unpunished.

Step-by-step procedure to fill out online anti-ragging undertaking affidavit form
Preamble:
Ragging is defined as any disorderly conduct, whether by words spoken or written or by an act, that has the effect of teasing, treating, or handling with rudeness a fresher or a junior student.
In compliance of the second amendment in UGC Regulations, it is compulsory for each student and every parent to submit an online Anti-Ragging undertaking affidavit every academic year as part of eradicate the ragging. Link to fill out the online undertaking affidavit by students and parents:
The students must be ready with the following details for Registration before filling:
Name, Mobile number, College mail ID, Permanent address, Parents / Guardian’s name, mobile number & Mail ID, address. (If your mother or father or guardian does not have a phone or a mobile phone or email then please give the numbers /email of their friends or relations or neighbours.)
Students are required to read the instructions in the PDF help file so that they will find it easy to complete the online undertaking process successfully.

After filling this form successfully, you will receive an acknowledgement email with attachment of Student’s and parent’s anti-ragging undertaking affidavit document (PDF).
- Forward that e-mail or (PDF document) to university Anti-ragging Squad Committee Chairman email ID: antiragging-undertaking@kanchiuniv.ac.in
- Submit the student details (Register number, Name, mail ID) and affidavit reference number / ID to your class in charge as per the XL sheet.
- Also, keep this Reference ID and PDF document as record for future reference.
